Location
Belynda Azhaar is currently located in Seoul, South Korea. Travel expenses will be factored into her performance/teaching fee.
Family Friendly!
Belynda Azhaar's performances are suitable for the whole family - children are some of Belynda's biggest fans! If your event is on the conservative side, Belynda can wear a more modest costume.
Show Duration
A typical show at a party consists of a single performance, approximately 15 minutes in duration, where Belynda Azhaar dances to several songs consecutively and finishes with an audience participation song. Belynda Azhaar can also perform twice (two-set performance), with a costume change between performances. Click here for information on performance fees.
Do shorter shows cost less?
The same amount of preparation and travel time are needed whether it's a 5 minute performance or a 15 minute performance. So, no, a discount is not available for a shorter show. A minimum booking rate for a single performance applies. Double performance shows, costume changes, and additional requests cost extra.
Audience Participation
Towards the end of a performance, Belynda Azhaar will invite members of the audience, in particular the guest(s) of honour, to dance with her. Please inform Belynda at the time of booking if you do not want an audience participation section in the show.
Belynda Azhaar does not expect tips in addition to her fee, however this part of the show is a good time for guests to show their appreciation by tipping (in an appropriate way).
Mini Dance Class and/or Contest
For parties, especially bridal/baby showers, Bachelorette and Arabian Princess parties, it's fun to have a mini bellydance class (approximately 30 minutes) either before or after the show. As an optional extra, a short competition can be held after the class. This is an enjoyable way to give class participants a chance to show off their newly acquired skills, plus it's a lot of fun. A hip scarf, or other prize, can be awarded to the winner(s). If requested, Belynda can provide a number of hip scarves and/or veils for guests to borrow during the class/competition. Belynda is happy to accommodate your needs - please discuss your requests with her.
Rates/Fees
The fee varies depending on your event. Please include as much information as possible in your enquiry so Belynda Azhaar can send you an accurate quote.
Performance fees for a single show start at US$200. A two-set performance with a costume change costs from US$350.
Choreography commissions start at US$300 for a 3-5 minute song (cost is dependant on the complexity of the required choreography and song duration).
Belynda Azhaar's workshop fee is the maximum of US$200 per hour, and 70/30 split of net profit.
Private lessons cost US$100 per hour while on tour, US$75 per hour domestic, and US$50 per hour for regular, weekly students.
Additional fees apply to events held on holidays.
Fundraising & Charity Events
Belynda Azhaar is happy to give back to the community and contribute her services to worthy causes. She participates in fundraising and charity events several times a year, as well as organising her own events. Please discuss your request with her.
Payment Policy
Fees are to be negotiated and confirmed in writing prior to the event. Flight tickets (where applicable) and a 50% non-refundable deposit are required at time of booking. For performances, Belynda Azhaar is to be paid in full on arrival, prior to the performance. For workshops, Belynda Azhaar is to be paid in full shortly after the end of the final workshop. If an event is cancelled within 7 days of the scheduled date then the agreed fee is to be paid in full to Belynda Azhaar.
Tips
Tipping from guests is not expected, but is greatly appreciated. Tips can be given in the Arabic fashion (hold the money over the dancer's head while she is dancing then let the money "shower" over her) or handed to Belynda directly at the end of the show. Tips are Belynda's to keep in addition to her performance fee.
Arrival & Performance Time
Belynda Azhaar will arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the agreed performance time.
Additional charges apply if Belynda's show is delayed, or if she is required to stay after the show.
Dressing Room
A private and clean space is required for Belynda Azhaar to change her costume. She also requires a secure place to leave her belongings while she performs/teaches.
Performance Space
In order to best plan her show, Belynda Azhaar needs to know the following information regarding the performance area: How big is it? What is the ceiling height? Are there fans/lights hanging from the ceiling? What is the flooring material (eg. carpet, tiles, rugs, concrete, grass)?
The performance space should be safe. If Belynda Azhaar deems that the performace space is unsuitable (for example, liquid or sharp objects such as broken glass on the floor; inoperable sound system; harassing members of the audience) the show may be cut short, or cancelled. In such a situation Belynda Azhaar is still to be paid in full.
Audio Equipment
Please confirm what audio equipment will be available at the venue. The performance music needs to be heard in all corners of the performance space. In general, and especially for larger venues, a portable stereo or boombox is not suitable as the sound quality will be poor and the music will not be loud enough for the dancer or the audience.
If you have requested Belynda Azhaar to conduct a workshop or mini class, and the venue is large, then a microphone headset/PA will also be required.
If possible, Belynda requests a quick audio check prior to performance.
Music
Belynda Azhaar usually performs to Arabic music, but also owns a wide selection of Turkish, Greek, and Fusion music. Belynda is happy to accommodate any special music requests that you may have (music does not need to be Middle Eastern).
If your event is a birthday party Belynda Azhaar can provide an Arabic version of "Happy Birthday to You" and sing this song (in costume) to your birthday guest of honour. Please discuss this request with Belynda Azhaar.
Music will be provided by Belynda Azhaar in audio CD or mp3 (USB stick) format. Please specify which is appropriate for your venue. (The venue must possess a working sound system.)
Costume
Belynda Azhaar owns a range of high quality, professional dance costumes in various colours and styles. If your event is on the conversative side, a more modest costume (dress) can be worn. Please discuss any special requests for your event with Belynda.
Model & Actress
Belynda Azhaar is a professional model & actress, and is available for photoshoots, music videos, feature films, and dance instructional and/or performance video shoots.
